Day 1 - Venice

St Mark's Square and Basilica

St Mark’s Square is the perfect place to begin a trip to Venice. Drawing thousands upon thousands of tourists every day, there are just as many pigeons there! From the square visit St Mark’s Basilica.

In the afternoon grab a panini from one of Venice’s innumerous snack bars and then go to Doge’s Palace, a Venetian Gothic treasure that was previously home to the city’s duke. Afterwards sit on the steps overlooking St Mark’s Bay.

That night grab a pizza in Arca in the Dorsoduro district before finishing the day off around Campo Santa Margherita.

Day 2 - Venice

The Rialto Bridge and markets

Start your day in the Rialto Bridge, one of only three bridges to cross the Grand Canal and by far the most famous. Savour the views on both sides, but in particular on the east side. Afterwards soak up the atmosphere around the Rialto Markets where fruit and fish are sold to tourists and locals alike.

Take a traghetto over to the Cannareggio district and take pleasure in streets with fewer tourists. Various highlights in this part of the city include the Jewish Ghetto and Ca' D'Oro

Also in this district, Paradiso Perduto serves great cicchetti (Venetian tapas) and gets extremely lively after dark.

Day 3 - Venice

Venice's best known art gallery

Venice’s number one art gallery is Galleria della’Accademia and shouldn’t be missed. Another of the city’s attractions that shouldn’t be missed is the beach on Lido, just 15 minutes from St Mark’s Square via ferry #1. Make this your next destination in the afternoon after the gallery.

If you’re looking for a more subdued night, wander around St Mark’s Square and listen to the string quartets that entertain hundreds.
